A look at the historical backdrop for the imagery behind the half hour of silence in heaven (Rev. 8:1), the identity and role of the seven angels (Rev. 8:2), the mixing of literal and symbolic genres as the prayers of the Saints were answered (Rev. 8:3-5), and the judgments that unfolded during the Roman-Jewish War (Rev. 8:6-7). The message will draw heavily on Josephus and other historical sources and focus on some practical takeaways for believers today.

This message will also focus on how the prophecy pundits have misidentified these images over the years and miscalculated prophetic events. Learning the lessons of the past can help us from repeating the mistakes of the past and, hopefully, prompt us to learn what these verses are actually saying and apply the principles to our lives today.
